Amir Sarayani is a pharmacist and pharmacoepidemiologist who recently joined the Department of Global Epidemiology at Johnson & Johnson (Janssen R&D) to support the neuroscience therapeutic area and established products. Before this role, he gained professional experience as a pharmacist, clinical researcher, and hospital pharmacy manager. Amir’s scientific mission is to advance innovation, equity, and evidence-based decision-making in the healthcare industry. Amir has created novel approaches in prenatal pharmacoepidemiology to assess risk minimization programs for teratogenic medications and to study drug interactions with hormonal contraceptives. His research has been published in top ranks journals, including Annals of Internal Medicine, BMJ Quality & Safety, and Epidemiology, with over 70 scholarly articles in his portfolio. The International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP) have acclaimed his research. Amir co-chairs BRACE* Special Interest Group (SIG) at ISPE to lead risk communication & minimization workstream. The BRACE SIG brings together over 250 ISPE members across academia, regulatory, and industry sectors. His alma maters are Tehran University of Medical Sciences (concurrent PharmD/MPH; national rank #1) and University of Florida College of Pharmacy (PhD; national rank #3 – Go Gators!).
