Dr. Hoffman is responsible for multiple, complex post-authorisation safety studies (PASS) and post-marketing requirement (PMR) studies for biopharmaceutical industry clients, and co-leads Carelon Research’s first Causal Inference cross-functional scientific initiative. She has 10 years of regulatory agency and research consulting experience working with large, health-care claims databases, including MarketScan, Medicare, and the Healthcare Integrated Research Database (HIRD), and electronic health records (EHR). Methodologically, Dr. Hoffman is oriented towards causal inference and patient centeredness, is experienced in propensity score-based methods (including inverse probability weighting for non-binary exposures) and has provided scientific oversight to the use of machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) to process unstructured EHR data for algorithm development and validation, and machine learning for propensity score estimation. Her scientific contributions have been published in journals including the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, International Journal of Cancer, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Menopause, and Contraception. Dr. Hoffman is a member of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE). She has received ten Anthem/Elevance Health IMPACT awards since the commencement of her employment with Carelon Research in November 2019.
