Dr. Payam Peymani is a postdoctoral fellow researcher in the college of pharmacy at the university of Manitoba. Payam is a pharmacoepidemiologist with more than six years of professional experience in universities, research centers, institutes, industries, and hospitals in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada. He obtained his fellowship in drug Safety and pharmacovigilance from the university hospital of Zürich, Switzerland and a Ph.D. in clinical epidemiology (Pharmacoepidemiology) from Shiraz University. He received his Pharm.D. degree from the faculty of pharmacy, shiraz university. Payam was a visiting researcher at the department of epidemiology, Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and a faculty member at Shiraz University for four years from 2017 to 2020. In 2021, Payam joined Dr. Eltonsy lab as a postdoctoral fellow researcher and his work is focused on drug safety and mother-infant health for conducting provincial and national projects. He is already integrated within pan-Canadian networks of pharmacoepidemiology, including CaMCCo and CNODES and performing teaching and mentoring activities. He is working on different projects, such as healthcare utilization during covid-19 and safety of antiseizure medications among pregnant people and pediatric population as part of the Canadian Mother-Child Cohort. Payam is a co-investigator on a successful Research Manitoba grant (130,000 $) on vaccines safety during pregnancy, and a co-investigator on a New Frontiers grant currently under review. He is also co-applicant in the submitted "CIHR-National Women's Health Research Initiative: Women's Health Coalition" project and integrated in mentoring MITACS students and PharmD graduates. He is the author of more than 55 peer review papers, participated in and given presentations at more than 40 international congresses and symposia, and has been a reviewer of various international scientific journals.
He won Canadian Mother-Child COLlaborative Training Platform (CAMCCO-L) Postdoctoral Bursary 2022-2023.
