Oliver Scholle is a pharmacist by training and a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology - BIPS in Bremen, Germany. The vast majority of his research is based on the German Pharmacoepidemiological Research Database (GePaRD), which contains longitudinal claims data covering about 20% of the German population. His current research topics are about regional (inter- and inter-country) differences in antibiotic prescriptions, use of opioid-containing drugs, and health care overuse in thyroid diseases in Germany.
