Dr. Jonathan Davitte, PhD, MPH, is currentltly the Director for Observational Data Science within the Genomic Sciences organization of GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Davitte is an epidemiologist with more than a decade of public health and data science experience. Throughout his career, Dr. Davitte has successfully integrated his technical knowledge of epidemiology and his data science expertise to design, implement, and manage data systems, analytics, and visualization for the advancement of research and program implementation objectives. In his current role within Genomic Sciences, Dr. Davitte and his team work to maximize the use of observational data (including, but not limited to real-world data) linked to genetics to improve target selection to: allow safer, more effective ‘precision’ medicines to be discovered; support identification of patient sub-groups that are more likely to respond to targeted treatments; and identify and recruit patients for clinical studies based on this information. Prior to his current role, as a member of the first cohort of Data Leaders for GSK’s R&D Esprit Programme, Dr. Davitte worked in the Scientific Analytics and Visualization team within the Data and Computation Sciences organization as well as supported evidence generation activities within the Real World Data and Analytics team in the Value, Evidence, and Outcomes organization. Before joining GSK, Dr. Davitte’s leadership in the field of HIV/AIDS focused on advancing prevention, care and treatment implementation and research in developing countries globally, with specific expertise in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Davitte completed his PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology from the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University in 2021; and, his Masters in Public Health, Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2010.
