Sara Ephross, PhD is Senior Director, Epidemiology, Real World Evidence at Syneos Health. She has more than 25 years of experience in industry, consulting and CROs as a pharmacoepidemiologist. Sara received her MSPH/PhD, and holds an adjunct appointment, at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health Deparment of Epidemiology. Her areas of expertise include design and implementation of pregnancy registries, enhanced pharmacovigilance, claims-based database studies, cohort and case-control studies, as well as systematic reviews/meta-analysis, all related to the use of medications and biological products during pregnancy. She previously served as a senior member of an industry-based interdisciplinary Pregnancy Outcomes Advisory Panel and has broad experience implementing FDA's Pregnancy and Lactation Labeling Rule (PLLR) and Postapproval Pregnancy Safety Studies Draft Guidance for Industry. Sara has been an invited speaker at the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention (BDRP) and Drug Information Association (DIA) on pregnancy registries and observational information for pregnancy surveillance and co-authored the first Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Registries Guide chapter on pregnancy registries. She actively participates in the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE), where she was formerly chair of the Medications in Pregnancy and Lactation Special Interest Group, and BDRP, where she is an elected member.
