Ivana Sestak, PhD, MSc, is a Research Scientist working with the Epidemiology and Scientific
Affairs team at PPD, in London, United Kingdom. She is an experienced epidemiologist and
medical statistician with over 20 years’ experience in clinical trials, observational study design,
and methodologies. She acts as principal investigator for both database analyses and bespoke
data collection studies and programs (e.g., prospective cohort studies, retrospective chart
reviews). She has published her research in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at
various national and international conferences (e.g., SABCS and ASCO). Dr. Sestak has
methodologic and management expertise with a diverse portfolio of studies with responsibilities
in terms of design, planning, managements, reporting, and consultations with external clients.
She has worked with several research groups, private industry, and collaborated with the
National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK. Dr. Sestak has a strong
interest in non-interventional studies and the development of evidence plans to support products
across development and life cycle management. Dr. Sestak holds a PhD in cancer epidemiology
and medical statistics from Queen Mary University in London. She completed her scientific
education with a MSc in biotechnology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich,
Switzerland.
