Dr. Chioma Ejekam is a Consultant Public Health physician, an Infection Prevention and Control(IPC) Consultant and an expert in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology.
She is a member of faculty at the Center for Infection control and Patients Safety (CiCaPS) College of Medicine of the University of Lagos and the Africa Centre of Excellence for Drug Research, Herbal Medicine Development and Regulatory Science (ACEDHARS) of the University of Lagos. She teaches at the 3 levels of the postgraduate Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control (CiCaPS), and in the Certificate and MSc Pharmacovigilance programmes of ACEDHARS.
She has over 15 years’ experience in the field of public health. As a public health consultant, she advises and collaborates with governments, development partners including other local and international partners on specific areas of interest and have managed several multi-country projects as the lead investigator.
She has contributed remarkably to the development of pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology in Africa especially in public health programs and also build IPC capacity for Africa. She works and is specifically interested in wherever medicines are used in public health - to ensure the safety of the public (the consumers and the healthcare providers), through research and health systems strengthening
She is currently the Co-lead of West Africa for the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE-AfRIG). She has been volunteering and have served in different capacities in ISPE - as an Abstrcat mentor and Abstract reviewer at previous ICPE meetings.
She has several peer-reviewed publications in her portfolio.
