Soko Setoguchi is a Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Rutgers University and directs Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science at Rutgers to raise next-generation clinician-scientists in clinical research. Her research focuses on the comparative effectiveness and safety of medications and medical devices in vulnerable populations and health services research to improve the quality and outcomes of care. Dr. Setoguchi has also worked on applied method studies developing and evaluating data linkage methods (linking claims/registry, mother/babies, and claims/climate data) and other design-based or analytic epidemiology methods (e.g., validation studies, machine learning in propensity score, and landmark method). Her most recent interest is in 'Environmental Pharmacoepidemiology' and she currently runs an NIH R01 study to assess the interaction between heat waves, air pollution, and medication effects on health outcomes. Dr. Setoguchi served as ISPE scientific program chair for the 30th ICPE and educational session director for ACPE and has been on Scientific Program Committee for many ICPEs. Dr. Setoguchi currently serves as the Chair for ACPE and Asia-Pacific RIG, Chair for Environmental Pharmacoepidemiology SIG, and Co-Chair for ISPE's Sustainability Committee. She currently serves as the editorial board member for Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety, the section chief for Frontiers in Drug Safety and Regulation, and Associate Editor for European Heart Journal, Japanese Circulation Report, and PCORI Report. Dr. Setoguchi had served on Advisory Board/Committee for US FDA and PMDA Japan and is a standing member of the NIH Study Section.
